Along with doing a monthly update of my own and other people’s writing, I’ve decided to try a monthly ‘open comment’ post here on From The Forests of Arduinna. As I’ve been cutting back and will soon completely end my social media use, this will be a more sane way of having conversations with people (that is, you!) who read me.

This month’s topic is on “the old left.” You’ve probably noticed, as have countless others, that some old foundational core of the left has been pretty much abandoned in what we label the “woke left.” There was once an attempt to draw in large groups of people by speaking to their material concerns, but now very little is about economic or material problems and now mostly about identity.

What are the problems you’ve seen? Why do you think this is happening? Do you still identify with the left? Have you found yourself in the position I mention in my previous essay, where you’re suddenly labeled right wing or reactionary for still holding on to core leftist values the “woke left” has abandoned?

Respond any way you like, and I’ll take some time to reply. Note that these won’t be immediate social-media replies (we rarely take time to think about our responses any more), but I will definitely reply.

And thanks for reading me!
